Summary:

Post-JL: Steppenwolf isn't interested in accepting defeat and walking away. Superman's proven that he's the key to conquering Earth, and Steppenwolf returns with a plan for how to deal with him. A plan that Bruce is able to throw a wrench into—but not without certain unintended consequences.

The main talent of this fic is that, despite the mental bond, despite the forced telepathy, Clark and Bruce still have miscommunications--and normally it would infuriate me but here it works. It takes real talent to make that kind of story work and susiecarter manages it brilliantly. It's all fully believable and deliciously angsty.
It's also a great character exploration of Bruce and Clark, and I still love it.
