Well, I did go to the (only) lesbian bar (of Phnom Penh) tonight! And there were…rather a lot more men than I expected. Not all of them gay though judging queerness levels beyond that is, of course, impossible.
Still, I have to admit, it wasn’t what I expected. Disappointment is maybe a bit of a strong word but…well, that was close, let’s be real here xD
On the other hand the guy who talked to me for most of the evening was pretty nice and had interesting stuff to say and frankly I’m a bit sorry that I’m incapable of properly following conversation in a noisy environment (alternatively: that anglo-saxons tend to be so much louder than French peeps are xD) because we could have chatted more but hey. It was fun.
The atmosphere was very different from what I’m used to though, and very different from La Mutinerie which is the Parisian bar I visited this summer. The L Bar had a poetry reading and photo expo and generally a more dapper/hipster-y feel to it than La Mut’ which, well.
I’m not really into dapper so, less my thing, but I guess you gotta take what you can get, or something x)
