Okay STORY TIME

This summer I worked with a charity that takes autistic and psychotic children in holidays, and one of the girl in my first 10days stay was black. She didn’t speak much, only a couple of words a day if she was in the right state of mind, but when she was excited she’d rock back and forth while waving her arms around (and smile. She smiles a lot.)

Now, one of the things the charity does on these stays is that there is a set routine, which includes having little ‘parties’ at night, like a ritual if you will. On Fairytales night, I started telling the story of Snow White, and at the last minute I decided to go for the black skin/white hair version instead of the ordinary one and Mimi (the girl) who’d been looking pretty bored up until then, started rocking back and forth so hard she accidentally headbutted her designated adult and nearly slapped the one sitting next to them xD
