Headcanon: Alec kind of assumes Magnus knows every language in the world already, so sometimes when he wants to practice he’ll just start speaking in another language. Latin, Greek and German all get a response. French too, once he learns it.

But then one day he starts speaking in Turkish and not only Magnus doesn’t understand a thing, but he seems to like not understanding it. In fact, it seems Magnus really, really likes it when Alec speaks in a language he doesn’t understand.

They don’t come out of bed for the whole weekend.

Good things that happen to me

I’m going through my 2013 fics to put them up on the writing blog again and realizing I wrote a lot more in a yer than I thought I had and while they could all use some polishing I have to admit I’m still very satisfied of how Your own legend came out.

It’s one of the few SPN fics I wrote (only 9 of those, and most are crossovers or fusions that don’t even feature SPN characters) and it was pretty experimental but I’m really happy with the end result, especially since I wrote in in one go and barely touched it up afterward.

Because of all the time he spends people watching, Alec is actually terrific at impressions, and Isabelle absolutely loves it.

Sometimes when Jace has been particularly dickish, they sit in Alec or Isabelle’s room and Alec spends the evening doing Jace impressions for his sister’s benefit, and Isabelle dies laughing every time.

Shadowhunters do have a lingua franca, but it’s not English: it’s Alicanti, a language that evolved from a mix of French and German and is the first language of those who were born and raised in Idris, although Nephilims born outside of the country sometimes learn it as a second or third language.
