(no subject)

Oh my god guys I just realized I forgot to tell you what happened to us last saturday!

Okay so you may know that my mom has chicken in the garden, and a couple of weeks ago all of the first batch got killed by a small predator. So after reinforcing the hen house, mom decided to get new hens to replace the dead ones, and she made the mistake of telling that to a friend/acquaintace of hers who we’ll call Mamar.

Quick portrait: Mamar is about 70, nice but also kinda invasive and with a tendency to sulk if things don’t go exactly as planned (kind of like my maternal gran, but worse).

 

Anyway, on saturday, we went to my aunt’s place to celebrate my cousin Jade’s 6th birthday (and also mycat’s :P) and we were in the middle of lunch when I got a call from Mamar (meaning she’d tried the house line several times, my mom’s cell and probably my dad’s too) which went roughly this way:

Mamar: Is your mom at home?

Me: No we’re out for Jade’s bday, why?

Mamar: Because she said she’d lost her chicken so I thought I’d get her chicks to replace them.

Now, knowing that my mom very much did not intend to get chicks for a number of reasons, I frowned and told Mamar not to buy the chicks because she’d end up having to find them a new home.

Mamar: I already bought the chicks, I’m at your house to give them to your mom.

So I had to break it to her that no, my mom did not say she wanted chicks and that she’d bought them for nothing (mom had to confirm before Mamar believed it)

It’s been three days and we still haven’t gotten any news.
