Episode 06: Of Men and Angels (Part ¾)
And here we go again for another round of our favorite bad show! I don’t know about you guys but personally I feel a little weird knowing that I’m writing this after the series’ finale has aired…I guess these things can’t be helped sometimes. Still, if I do this for next season (provided there’s an interest for it and that I’m in a position to do it) I’ll have to figure out a way to prevent my over-detailed nature from making an appearance.
Anyway, in the first part of this episode, Magnus tried to kill two birds with one stone by luring Alec to his place under the pretense of helping save Magnus, Jace had a cockfight with Simon which he won by admitting he treated Alec like a lapdog and then giving us a demonstration (thereby maintaining his current title as Alpha Asshole of the show for now). Meanwhile, Izzy tried to get Alec to call Jace, and Maryse had a genuine conversation with her son. Also Max appeared so we can get sad when he dies in two seasons.
In part two, Luke was still out of it so the role of introducing Jocelyn and Luke’s backstory fell to Magnus. There was a lot of blue flashbacks, Valentine was revealed to have been the Ultimate Goodie-Two-Shoes until suddenly he wasn’t, and after a brief attempt at defending him Jocelyn decided stealing the Mortal Cup was the best course of action. Meanwhile, Maryse and Robert argued about ~something that could only be done by Alec to restore the family’s honor (by which they meant: Alec must find a wife so we can get our political power back. Small difference.)
We ended the review/recap when Luke, delirious with pain, started blaming himself and Jocelyn for something undefined. Well, I say ‘undefined’–it’s not like there was any suspense as to what it was even during the first watch.
