I think I’ve already mentioned this in comparison to the 100 but I really appreciate that while things keep getting worse and worse you never get the sense that it comes from this voyeuristic grimdark trend you get in fiction these days but more of an actually realistic point of view

And the good part is that it applies on both the big and small scale–you cn see the ships and costumes wearing down, the morale lowering, people getting more tired etc. but also smaller stuff like the whole Kara/Lee debacle are shown for how messy and hurtful they are in real life and that’s pretty good too
